Hacked article- http://p.webremixes.org/pwybbmod

NASA had been hacked by a 15 – year old boy which shutdown 13 of its critical computers for 3 weeks. It also cost NASA $41,000 to repair its equipment and pay the contractors. I chose to hack this article using the Hackasaurus X-Ray Goggles tool.  The original article was a report on the hack and its effects on NASA.  I made Curious George represent the 15 year-old because he seemed like the type to challenge his limitations and be adventurous. He had a thirst for knowledge and was curious about what he could do with his Pentium computer and the Internet. They are both juveniles in a way.  Comparing this juvenile hacker to Curious George also emphasizes the ridiculousness of the situation.   If a 15 year old can hack a secure government database, then why can’t a monkey? Despite the fact that the hacker cost the government thousands of dollars and threatened the security of NASA, I portrayed him as an adorable little brown monkey who fell victim to his own curiosity.

  1. NASA had been hacked by Jonathan James in 1999 and had to shutdown 13 of its critical computers for 3 weeks. It also had to pay $41,000 to repair its equipment and pay the contractors. I had chosen to create a video to hack my summary. The summary had been transformed into a news broadcast type of format, but also has a cartoon feeling to it for the second half. I made Curious George represent Jonathan James because James seemed like the type to challenge his limitations and be adventurous. He had a thirst for knowledge and was curious about what he could do with his Pentium computer and the Internet. They are both juveniles in a way. I had also added my own perspective about this matter. Despite James being branded as the first juvenile hacker to get into trouble with the law, I portrayed from a positive aspect instead and made him as a person who gained recognition from NASA and the public
